We wanted to know if new Tasmanian data could help people make informed treatment choices for kidney failure. To do this, we worked closely with patients, carers, and health professionals.
The project involved three main stages:
Data Collection: We ran four focus groups in Tasmania with patients, carers, and health professionals. Together, we explored what information matters most when making decisions about treatment and care for kidney failure.
Codesign Workshops: We held two codesign workshops in Tasmania to share findings from the focus groups. Participants helped us identify the best ways to present new information about treatment options.
Development and Testing of Resources: Finally, we worked with patients, carers and health professionals to create some resources. People told us that these resources are useful for people making a choice about treatment.
This website presents these resources.
These resources may be useful if you are a patient, carer, family member or health professional. The resources might help patients to think about how their life might look on dialysis or supportive care treatment. They might help them to think about what is important and how treatment might best fit into their life.
